The TSX was up 1.09% on Friday to hit a 3 week high. Financials and energy stocks were up on renewed optimism that European policymakers were united in battling the euro zone’s debt crisis. The Canadian dollar hit a 10 week high to end the week at 99.05 U.S. cents. The Dow Jones (U.S. stocks) was also up 1.46% Friday, surpassing 13,000 points for the first time in months.
I seem to be having a personal economic recovery as well. Thus far 2012 has been a slow year for the Vancouver film industry. So slow in fact that in May, my agent shut her doors and quit the business.

But the film industry is like the Mob… just when you think you are out, they pull you right back in!
There is a new TV series that starts filming in Vancouver this week called Emily Owens M.D. It was picked up by the CW network and is scheduled to premier this fall.
I knew I had been submitted as a possible stand-in on the show, but since it starts shooting in a few days, I had assumed all hiring had been done already. Much to my surprise, I got a call on Thursday offering me the full-time position!
Things are going to change quite radically for me this week. I will be working 5 days a week, 12-14 hours a day for the rest of the year. If the ratings are good when the show airs, the job will continue into 2013. If the show’s a hit, the job could run for several years.
It will also have a pretty radical effect on my balance sheet. Because work has been slow this year, my liabilities column has been creeping up while I haven’t really been able to add much to my assets column. Because I have kept my cost of living low and have set up my investment accounts (DRIP’s, RRSP’s, TFSA’s, online brokerage account) I am now ready to pay off debt and invest heavily in assets.
As for this website, I am probably not going to have a lot of time to devote to it. I will try to post updates when I find time, but my weekends are mainly going to be for catching up on sleep, doing laundry, hitting the gym and buying groceries.

If your set has WiFi, you can get a “regular iPad” & post. Also, if you have an iphone, you can use it as a tether, for your iPad, for free.
Might save you a few more bucks, for your balance statement!
Ya, I have to see if they have wifi on set. Sometimes they do, but only the producers know the code and then everyone finds out and shares it with each other.
I hate typing on glass with one finger. I might just get a Macbook air and take it to work with me. That way all my stuff is in it whether I am at home or at work.

Dave. Great to hear from you! The gig is going great and reminds me a lot of “Endgame” which we worked on together. Mainly a studio show that takes place on 2 sound stages. It’s nice to be at the North Shore studios which is close to home.
